OT: So, what you're saying, is that our enemy is just a small group of violent fanatics, with no mass appeal? That's what the Shah said about Khomeini in the 1970s. That's what we said about Ho Chi Minh in the 1960s. That's what the Nationalist Chinese said about Mao in the 1930s. That's what King George said about George Washington in 1775. I'm not making a comment on their ideologies. I'm making the comment, that those in power frequently make the mistake of underestimating the appeal of insurgencies. Never underestimate your opponent.

Further to your line of thinking. 50% of afghan physicians are women who are not allowed to practice. Women are not allowed to be attended by male physicians so they have no medical care except illegal care. Talk about an example of upsetting an existing culture that did recognize and value the intellect and talent of women.
