They still think Americans have no stomach for casualties

Before 911, the public would not have wanted to see any USA military casualties for foreign wars....understandable. Now they fully understand they are the target, it's a real war and most people seem to know what that means.. casualties sadly.

Yes, it looks as if the Taliban underestimate the Allies resolve. I don't think they know the storm of lead that will coming their way soon. It's as if the USA or the UK have never fought a war before. The special forces include USA, UK, Australians, Turks, all with proven military histories.

On another subject..,Putin has just saved $200 million per year in rent...

Cuba knows the picture. LOL...

"at the very time the aggressive and warlike policy of the U.S. government is stronger than ever."

They still think Americans have no stomach for casualties, but everything has changed.
Actually, nothing has changed. Their mistaken belief that Americans have no stomach for casualties is a gross miscalculation on their part, based only on Somalia (and, arguably, Kosovo and Bosnia) which, as you point out, was a peacekeeping mission.

The following casualty figures demonstrates what the burden that the American people "stomached" to preserve freedom in previous wars, wars that did not even include an attack on the continental U.S.

58000 vietnam
34000 korea
292000 WWII
53000 WWI
