Also from the "Huntsville Chronicle" ~

The time has come the when such force against our Southern Brethren should be met with equal and opposite force. Regrettably, I must conclude that no other means are available to convince would-be attackers; that if the Pride of Dixie could not be vanquished by Northern Aggression, it shall not be subdued by ignorant Yankees. I assume the first act of forceful defense will be heard around the country. They will call it a 'hate crime' even when that
Southern Man defends himself or his family. But I now believe a sound defense against that next aggressor will send the only message to those who will not stop their attacks that they will understand. Perhaps it will convince many parents to tell their children, "Leave those rebels alone. They got a mean streak."

I'd say homosexuals threaten no families, regardless of race.

That depends on what you mean by homosexuals. If you mean all homosexuals you get a different answer then if you mean any two or more people who are homosexuals. Of course if the 2nd part is true in a particular case (that two or more homosexuals persecute a family), but the headline is "Homosexuals persecute..." then people may take it to mean that homosexuals in general do such things and it is even possible that he headline was selected with the intention of trying to get people to believe such a thing.

For examples of similarly loaded headlines you could imagine one saying "Muslims blow up the WTC", or if a couple of black people robbed a convenience store the headline could be "blacks steal money". Both headlines (and the one you objected to) where strictly speaking accurate but they are loaded. They may be read so as to imply things that are not true even though they are not outright lies.
