Why is Xbit labs comparing a P4 to Durons? The fastest AMD chip they compare a 1.5GHz P4 to is a 1.1 GHz Duron! Why? A 1.33 GHz athlon is only $110, still much cheaper than the P4.

Even so, there are 17 benchmarks in the review

Athlon 1.0 or Duron 1.1 wins 7 of them, P4 wins 8 and PIII-1.0 wins 2.

Two of P4's "wins" use the rigged Sysmark benchmarks which look at the manufacturer ID to determine whether to run slow code or fast code.

So I would say a 1.5G P4 is about equal to a 1G Athlon or a 1.1G Duron, at best.

Whoever said that a P4-i845 system was slower than a 400 MHz lower Athlon system was right-on.
