Jcholewa, Would such a large caches slow Intel down?, from the looks of it they can scale to 2800 or so with a smaller feature size and other optimizastions on the P-4 design. As for higher speeds?
My comments were directed at costs, even at .13 if you make a 1 meg cache means a large dies is needed and this offsets the enormous increase in parts makeable with all the Intel foundries at .13
This may be the strategy as AMD will be unable to make the volume of parts if they go to the same large cache on .13.
In addition AMD lags behind Intel in going fully to .13 on 300 MM wafers.

That would mean Intel could let AMD make what they could and not be forced to cut ASP since AMD could not supply parts and Intel would then be able to have a higher ASP since AMD would be 100% fully booked.
