D.Lu

Try turning off the monitor and such devices as fans, fluorescent lights, or halogen lamps to check for interference from those devices. Move your speakers and see if it has any effect. I had some interference from a lamp a while back and moved it around until the noise disappeared.

If the pinging is the sound you have selected for Internet Explorer as a stop gap, go to control panel/sounds and remove the sound for internet explorer and save that configuration as your default.

As a side note, isn't it irratating that when you reinstall the program, not everything works perfectly?

What are you mouseclicking on...I have some ideas about cause of a rapid pinging I've discovered on my machine I'll run past you if you can tell me what it is you are clicking on that triggers that response.

Good computing to all.

I've found my computer does the rapid pinging sound when I've triggered a nest of imbedded cookies. I especially run into this when I send my cookie file to recycle bin and then right click empty recycle bin.

Anyone else have this experience?

When my system "accepts" cookies, i get a muted clicking sound until they are all installed. Is this the flip side?
Like this person, my system only started doing this after a re-formated hard drive experience and complete re-install.
