Remember that Windows XP has actually been on sale for nearly a month now on select new PCs. I was surprised that nobody on the MSFT CC last night asked about how these "prelaunch" sales have been going but I expect they've done quite well. At my local Best Buy it seems like virtually all of the PCs on display now feature XP whereas as little as two weeks ago you had to hunt to find one or two models with XP featured. Clearly XP is poised to hit the ground running with near-100% penetration in the consumer space.

I should also point out for those constantly carping about "cost" that e-machines is now selling an entry-level Windows XP box for $399. Frankly the consumer doesn't care how that money gets divided among the components.
