Albert, >you know what I mean. Few years back ibm stock was dropping like a rock. In fact IBM came back only when they gave up on the idea of monopolizing the market.

Few years all right, like 8 - 10, which is an eternity in the stock market. IBM has more of a monopoly now in their core business, mainframes, than ever before.
