I would suggest that any attempt to move from the changes in the economy to effects on individual companies misses much of the meat which would be gained by considering the intermediate areas. I wouldn't set my sights so high as to hope to quantify the impact of broader conditions on the company under evaluation just as I would not choose the company by numerical screens. It does seem that one might include some simple consideration of the prevailing market, though. Perhaps testing would reveal that this did not add value to the metric, but I was just suggesting that it was certainly possible to try.
