Semiconeng,

>During those 3 months, their ONLY job, is to find another job inside the company. During that time, they receive their standard salary. If they can't find a job, then intel provides outplacement services, and extends their medical coverage out to an additional 90 days after they leave.

First off, I hate layoffs for anybody, having worked in this up and down tech field all my career. But, Intel sounds like maybe they've become something like Big Blue used to be. As a stockholder, hope they haven't gone too far. 250 people isn't a lot in Intel terms, but to have them doing nothing but look internally for another job for 90 days, I don't know. I know HP does this, other companies too. Just a word of concern from a stockholder and no way I'd ever want to see people put out on the street without at least a good package.

Tony

Semi - Re:"Remind me.... What did AMD do for those 2500 employees that they laid off???"

Announced the endowment of a $2.5 million chair in Jerry Sander's name at the U of I, his alma mater.

Oh, AMD also ordered a new limo for Jerry and will redecorate his Beverly Hills office.
