The AMD supporters refuse to believe it and accuse Intel of everything from “cooking the numbers” to “stuffing the channel."

Paul Otellini or was it Andy Bryant? said Intel could have sold more PIIIs in Q3 if they had them. Furthermore Intel is now admitting a shortage of P4s. It's pretty hard to imagine how Intel could be stuffing the channel with processors they are short of, but that kind of reasoning would never stop an amdroid.

They see the new incarnation of David bringing down the evil Goliath.

Fin, sounds like Intel is as beneficial as they come with regard to handling layoffs, etc., except for Cisco's six months minimum continued salary to any and all when they had their layoff, regardless of length of service. I wouldn't worry about defending Intel when anyone tries to make them look like an uncaring ogre. Far from it.
