Maybe there is no good alternative right now, but Yousef's post seemed happy about the situation rather then accepting that it was the best that could be expected given the circumstances.

Actually I think there is an alternative. Maybe not for this Q or next but Yousef implied that it was an Intel plan that would go on bleeding AMD quarter after quarter for a long time. I think both companies expect the chip market to turn around at some point in 2002, or atleast early 2003. The alternative is to back off the price war a bit once demand increases enough that Intel doesn't have to keep prices so low to avoid losing sales.
