QCOM's MSM3300 chip is a good one, TRW makes one, bu none that I know are around $5. You will also need an antenna to receive the GPS signal with, but I'm sure you know that.

I'd like to thank you very much for sharing your turnips with us. I have a question. When you talked about shifting into bio/pharm, was it just for this down leg, or for the rest of the up move to Nov. 7?

OT: Check with the guys at MIT's Media Lab; they've been toying for some time with several applications that need very inexpensive GPS chps, so they should know. In Jan 2001, IBM claimed to make the only single-chip Si:Ge GPS receiver, but I bet you searched where you could already...
