Let's get the facts: He says:Ashton's Oct. 16 announcement of what it refers to as a find of ultramafic rock with the characteristics of kimberlite at Otish Mountain in Quebec confirms a rumour that the letter writer mentioned in a Sept. 23 Tracker. The facts: Kimberlite was found in the Otish Mountain in the late seventies by Uranerz(1) and later worked by Ditem(2). It's not a rumor, there is kimberlite in the Otish (one pipe and numerous dykes). The problem is that they do not contain enough diamonds to be economic. He says: A supportive Mr. Kaiser says that in spite of the market's ho-hum reaction to the news, hitting kimberlite on two out of four geophysical targets is a phenomenal exploration success rate. The market reaction was normal. He should have read carefully the last PR to understand this «ho-hum reaction». Here is an extract: A second hole which was drilled at the same location at a 60-degree angle from horizontal encountered similar material from 22 to 35 metres. Mr Kaiser should have taken a pencil and plotted on a piece of paper this intersection. At 60 degrees, 13 metres is equivalent of a true thickness of about 6 metres. This is some kind of a «baby pipe» or a small dyke, much more smaller than what was discovered before and unfortunately, it adds to the concerns that the Otish area may host only root zones and limited-tonnage dikes. Market reaction was normal according to me. Even MAJ stock took a small dive following this PR. This is not the end for ACA/SOQUEM or MAJ/BHP in the Otish. Potential for new discoveries still exists. But, always do your «dd» after reading Mr Kaiser's words. JP (1) GEHRISCH, W. – JENKINS, C. – LEPPIN, M., 1979. Report on exploration works with 14 DDH logs, Uranerz Mining and Exploration Ltd..
