Ighansen,

btw, what's your interest in the region, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, since I was a youngster I always had an interest in WW2 and conflicts in general. As I grew older I started hearing about the Russians contribution to the WW2 conflict.

Read this link. It tells a story.

I have some brothers, and one of them has moved to the Ukraine. He is now married there and has kids in KYIV.
I just visited there recently. I must say I like KYIV and the Ukraine immensely -g-. We didn't stay in a hotel (note potential Ukraine tourists).

llmarinan (Finland <ggg>) type question:- How can some peasant in the most retarded agrarian place in the world raise children that end up speaking 15 languages and be the most smartest cookies on the planet?

And of course I have worked with Ukrainians in the UK and the USA and found them to be unusually bright typically. One need look no further then here ...

So. I find the Eastern Europeans and the Russians most fascinating and wonderful people. I expect to spend the rest of my life studying just these people -g-

Watching Russian TV military action programs... substitute Afghanistan for Vietnam tells it all. We are all in the same boat. -g-
