No, only new retail products would be taxed. To do otherwise would result in multiple taxation.


But you are taxing the individual, not the product. If I buy a used car from a car lot, it's the first time I've bought it. If you are taxing the product, where do you start and stop.

Do resellers that add value pay tax on the products they buy?

PS, In Canada you pay GST when you buy a used car. The only break you get on GST is when you trade in on a new or used one. You pay the GST on the difference.
