Entirely Off Topic?

Not by a long shot, especially after 9/11 and the anthrax scare which have adversely affected the economy.

It is now vital, more than ever before, for absenteeism from the workplace to be minimized. To be sure, info on how to deal with anthrax can help reduce absenteeism from work.

If only more women had known about the double role of yogurt, they would have been more productive in their workplace!

Hopefully, increased productivity leads to prosperity and all that it implies.

Study Finds Chubby Birds Fly Better

By MARGIE MASON
.c The Associated Press

(Oct. 17) - As skies fill with millions of migrating birds...

The fatter the bird, the more efficiently it flies.

... results of their study... [contradict] theory of aerodynamics

... the results were very surprising,''

... said Richard M. and Chuca M. of Sweden's Lund University,
... in the latest issue of the journal Nature.

Researchers found that red knot wading bird...

Another Nature study - this one involving pelicans...

... according to Henri Weimerskirch and colleagues
from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in France.

... said Brian Harrington, senior scientist at Manomet Center
for Conservation Sciences near Boston....

Heavier birds apparently use their muscles more efficiently.

Just why this is so remains a mystery, said British zoologist
Jeremy Rayner of the University of Leeds.

... does a bird cheat what seems like a fundamental of physics?

One day we'll get the answer...

... the physiology of heavy birds is much more efficient than believed.

``I think it's pretty exciting stuff,'' he said.
