not if you put the responsibility of obtaining the fix on the customer. ms office has hundreds of bugs in all of its releases and anyone can get an update from the web easily. another difference is that people are a lot more tolerant of software bugs than hardware bugs. if the quality of intel or amd x86 implementations were as bad as ms office or windows, neither company would survive till this day. people take hardware verification a lot more seriously.
