I know. That's why I'm getting confused about this issuance. Is Merril so confident in Cisco stock that they are issuing debt-equivalents with their own stash of Cisco stock as the collateral? If so, wouldn't this require the approval of Cisco to do it? If not, are you sure that Cisco isn't getting a share of the proceeds and is liable for interest payments? I have no idea what the answers are, but if anyone could enlighten me, I'd appreciate it. I'm really hoping that Cisco isn't engaging in any debt issuances here.
