Ig, Bud Powell's on the CD here. Bud's playing Monk's 'Round Midnight as I write this. Along with Percy Heath and Max Roach. Monk did everything he could to push Powell to the top, but alcohol and drugs won hands down. I saw Monk at The Village Vanguard in 1973. A great set. They had a scat singer sit in for a couple of tunes, and I can't remember his name. But one of the songs was called "In Walked Bud (Then the joint started jumpin'"). One of my favorite musical axioms is Monk's idea that "wrong is right." If you hit a wrong note or chord, develop it. <g>
