I don't usually do this because it is unscientific and inadequately sampled and myopic and impiricistically too casual, BUT, I was at the San Rafael (Ca.) CompUSA store yesterday and they are SOLD OUT of almost every notebook computer, even the demos off the shelves, and "Andy" (the Clerk) said business was good.

None of these have P4's, of course, but there is a rumor that some manufacturers are using PIII's as mobile chips.
