combjelly, Yes, they were the first and now some people have made some dies for the laptops and also motherboards and several different tops for 12-15" screens for low/high end models and they sell them.
a search on asiansources.com gave me a list of many. all of them will supply in SKD form.

Asian sources is a browse heaven for all manner of parts from switches, ICs to computer stuff, and those nice Taiwan/China wrenches that break when you use them and protect the nut/bolt.
They will send you samples and some have a deal with Amex or other credit card companies to charge it.

You can find some all in one products, like a combination ice crusher/bread baker/dynamite detonator/internet appliance/condom just kidding, that one does not break the ice. :)
Hint, get it mailed by airmail. That is a lot cheaper than air freight since there is no broker involved.
