Pakistani officials told AFP that the chopper crashed as it came in to land at Dalbandin airport near the Afghan border in the southwestern province of Baluchistan. "The pilot and co-pilot jumped to safety but two American servicemen were killed and one other soldier was injured," a senior security official said. "The helicopter was involved in a search and rescue operation as part of the logistical support Pakistan is providing (for the US campaign)," a Pakistani military official said. The helicopters and troops which are based on US aircraft carriers in the Indian Ocean would have to fly over Baluchistan to reach Afghan targets.
