Pakistan has continued with its dirty tricks: Fernandes

19.25 IST 20th Oct 2001

By IndiaExpress Bureau

Defence minister George Fernandes Saturday accused Pakistan of continuing to aid and abet terrorism against India and asked the international community to make concerted efforts to eradicate the menace.

"No air strike can eradicate the menace of terrorism completely and international community has to make concerted effort to eradicate this," Indian defence minister said addressing the troops at Siachen Base Camp.

Fernandes, who visited the world's highest battlefield for the first time in his second stint as Defence Minister, said, "India has been highlighting the menace of terrorism for decades now. But, unfortunately the world never understood our contention that terrorism has no boundaries."

Fernandes said that there was no decrease in violence in Kashmir and Pakistan has continued with its "dirty tricks and we should remain vigilant".
