They are moving backwards because they are fighting imperialism. American lent/lending (no lending involved actually) aid and abetting to those who wish to create a "Jewish" state in Palestine. Another example is the corrupt Saudis having the US giving them protection from their own people who want them O-U-T. Those are probably the two biggest examples. No question about it, we can be of great help to them, but it has to be in a timely fashion that meets their needs to come to terms with a changing culture. Afterall, how many American men can accept Woman's ( equal) rights even in 2001?
