Hello, Santiago. I certainly agree with your hindsight/foresight statement and about Americans being alert. As the President said, "Use your common sense."

We are wide open to attacks of terrorism at all sorts of locations. According to Tamim Ansary, the American-Afghani writer, their number one weapon is the car bomb. The airliners were just that, flying car-bombs. Their number one targets are symbols of perceived American decadence and excess.

So, they want to hit significant targets that attack us in symbolic as well as real ways. Malls represent the conspicuous consumption of Americans. And, Halloween must seem to many of them as a pagan celebration of the strangest kind: Children dressing up as symbols of evil -- witches, ghosts, monsters, Hollywood horror personalities. So, a rumor about an attack like the e-mail warns of seems very plausible.
