I don't think one needs to look farther than the Usenet group microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support and the thousands of postings there from people already having trouble with XP to conclude that Microsoft has not yet achieved what it has claimed with every release I can remember -- reliability and stability.

From my scan of the messages, it seems to me the hotspots are installation, power management, networking, and support of mice, sound boards, CD/CDR/CDRW drives and scanners. The BSOD continues to be reported, as do spontaneous reboots, particularly in relation to CD writing and system shutdown. I only noticed a few reports of file system corruption.

JMHO.
