I agree. There's no reason to buy a computer (or much of anything else) that you have no use for. The purpose of marketing is to change perceptions about possibilities and thereby encourage consumers to expand their personal definitions of "need". Why else would MSFT and INTC be planning on spending hundreds of millions of dollars associated with the upcoming XP launch?
