Prisoner produced cash out of his buttocks during body search

An escaped New Zealand prisoner produced £80 in cash from his backside during a police search.

Officers were body searching Andrew Richard Waara who's pleaded guilty to ramraiding a pharmacy.

He'd recently escaped from jail. Officers also found cannabis oil in his underpants.

Judge Barry Lovegrove at Palmerston North District Court deferred sentence until November 1.

Waara escaped from Rimutaka Prison in September.

His brother was arrested shortly after the robbery while Waara was arrested later in the day.

He pleaded guilty to charges of car theft, burglary and cannabis possession, the Stuff website reports.
