"I expect XP to be pretty much a non event"

I'm sure all MSFT investors sincerely hope that your expectations are widely shared, because that's what sets the stage for upside surprises.

You may also wish to recheck your stock quotes. On a split-adjusted basis MSFT was trading around 11 when Win95 was launched.

Run out and buy a new PC with XP if you are using Win98 or Win95. If you are using Windows 2000 already, then you only want to run out and buy it if you want to run consumer sw on it OR want wireless networking OR you have many persons using it at home or you want a faster, more stable computer.

I was once an "early adopter." Not any more. I learned (much too slowly) that being an early adopter merely makes one a debugger of other people's mistakes. Now I try to stay off the bleeding edge. It's cheaper and easier that way.

JMHO.
