Actually, there HAVE been dramatic changes in stereo -- e.g. optical linking of components. I think that's as dramatic as what has happened lately in the PC world.

BTW, the home entertainment system is going to somewhat replace the PC in the next 5 - 10 years.

PCs have already replaced stereos in at least one very important market: Student dorms. Walk through any campus and try finding a "Hi-Fi" system these days.

Think these students will ever buy a traditional piece of stereo gear?
