Is your video card on the USB?
No.

What about your sound card? Yes. USB speakers.

Network card? 2 - Ethernet USB & the built in Ethernet. I use both.

Modem? Yes. DSL Modem via the Ethernet USB connection.

All those things you listed come on new computers. With the exception of the Display card there is no need to upgrade any of them. Even the Display card is unecessary for most PC users, gamers aside...

I read a report (by Dataquest or Cahners, I don't remember now) that showed that until the year 2000, the lowest common denominator for display resolution was 640x480.
Recently that has changed to 800x600 as the OEMs are now configuring that as the default.
This suggests that the majority of PC users don't upgrade their Display cards, they don't even change the resolutions.
