Good points. In my bloodlust, after eagerly following the "gee whiz" new remote technology of warfare, it was a shock to hear an actual pacifist on CSPAN2. It felt like waking up from a dream of that Machine War in "The Terminator" where machines hunt down humans hiding in the ruble; and not knowing whether to load the rifle or read Hoffer's "True Believer". Can't find that transcript but here are some previous ones.

I don't know if waiting, and defending ourselves in the meantime is a viable national option, but it's an idea I haven't seen explored with any seriousness.

Cheney is wrong - Eventually, we'll have to be defensive, as hard as that is to conceive of, since information is irreversible, and with billions of humans there will always be someone with "extreme madness". So the time to start discussing this with great seriousness is now, both domestically and in problem countries.

Prediction: the military battle will be won by Xmas. We'll be left with sparks from that blaze for years. Better fireproof out society.
