I'm sorry if you condone torture simply because it is useful you might as well be THEM (meaning the Taliban) the difference between "us" and "them" is that we have a Constitution that protects us- it even protects the awful, the horribly scary parts of us (like child murderers, for example). It is EASY to protect people you presume are innocent, the only difference in societies is how they treat the perceived "guilty"- and let me remind you, who is "guilty" can be a pretty amorphous concept. It is a slippery slope I do not wish to traverse. Others in this society may wish to traverse it, in doing so I hope they do not traverse away our most basic freedoms.
