manifest content I think is closer to correct there. and we learned "iddish energy" is how our doctoral professors, all practicing analysts, all referred to it. We used to joke that because every one of the professors and 80% of the grad students were Jewish, it should've been called"Yiddish energy". Freudian terms are many and so arcane. It never ceases to amaze me. I read all of Freud's writings, every one, in a two-year seminar at NYU led by an Austrian analyst. It was great fun. I enjoyed "Moses and Monotheism" a great deal, BTW.
