At one time a personal computer could not do all those things you do now.

At one time nobody considered that a personal computer would do all those things you do now.

Then somebody thought of it. Somebody demonstrated or provided the capabilities, and you now own it.

Perhaps the virtual butler is a bad/silly analogy, but it's just that an analogy.

I think the point really is that no one can say with 100% certainty that there will not be some new feature brought to the PC that will entice someone to buy a new one.

There will likely be some feature that will probably get you to buy a new PC some point in the future, but not today, your PC does all you need today.
I, like you, I can't envision what that is, but there was a point in the past when you hadn't considered burning your videos onto a CD with the computer you had at the time.

JMHO.

[edit] On second thought, I'll drop out of this issue. I caught up on your posts and it looks like you and David are missing each other completely.
