And people think abortion is a slippery slope.

Why would it be more of a slippery slope than wire tapping, searches, etc. where we have to get a warrant? Clearly the criteria for justifying a warrant for information extraction via drugs or torture would be much, much higher than for a wire tap but the principle is the same. They are all intrusions for which we can and do set limits.
