Of course the direction of the stock will be following the market. It's nearly an eighth of the nasdaq! It practically IS the market.

My guess is that it will perform similarly to what it's done for the last three years. Flat. A little up or down, just like ibm and apple have. The growth rate won't allow earnings to go up quickly and so it will trade in a range for years.

Anyone who is a bear is probably wrong on this stock. Anyone who is terribly bullish on the stock is probably wrong as well.

When the economy turns up, then msft earnings will rise, but not as much as other smaller more nimble companies.

On a valuation basis, msft isn't a stock that I can buy. Since I don't short stocks I don't have to decide if it should go lower. My guess is that as long as the market holds up, msft will as well (because it IS the market! LOL!)
