>>Ike, I really laughed at your post.<<

I am trying hard to understand other cultures - in US culture, the above would be considered an insult, and not something to be said in polite conversation.

Is this not also true in your culture?

Stock markets are barometer of national temperaments, if nation is going to dogs and huge discrepancies exists on national issues stock markets price them in, it is the most sensitive barometer, look at post 11th Sept what happened ok now look at post nuclear explosions from 11th of May 1998, or after Kargil, you will see that it is fully reflective of serious problems, if Pakistan as I was asked on course of 85% tremor by population, the ‘smart money’ as you rightly pointed out escapes, in our case to Dubai overnight, the flight of capital and political turmoil is so closely associated that I have never found it with so much certainty anywhere else.

Sensitive smart money in third worlds country are best gauge, and in my opinion the best indicator of future turmoil, smart money runs away, interest rates rise when smart money thinks that 855 is about to explode, they convert it to $ and send it over to Dubai, that is called ‘chamak’ the chamak rate rises when political instability is high and gets lower when stability is better, it has never been so low in Dubai since 1989.. It is like long money fro you. For me it is an academic point not a caustic post. I was making this point of huge mass Iranian style convulsions in such a case the flight of capital is guaranteed and in 1998 we saw a 750 low of the market after the sanctions and nuclear dilemma and Kargil issues and change of Political government through a coup-detat in Oct 1998..., I have posted a Yahoo link and posted you the dates, you can now draw your conclusions and please read Woolly’s post again.
