Albert, It is easy to order, hard to get, so they buyer will find out how many of the critical parts he can get(CPUs) and will then let the mobos sit on lcal supplier shelves until he has confirmed the CPUs and they he gets enough MOBOs to fill that order.

Now if he has 200 system order and can get 100 P-4, guess who waits...the client, and he can then be told to wait or shifted to AMD.

On a retail SD shop floor this is easy to deal with. People want it now, so you tell them a 1 week or more wait for P-4 and today for the Athlon, and people let their impatience decide for them, esp since the AMD is both lower in cost and better in performance.(Here I insert a few carps, CARP CARP, CARP, to save Paul the trouble).

In addition you show what you can get and if people are happy they buy it as seen.

This is a major irritant to Intel as the lost sales are lost forever, lost share, never comes back, like unsold airline seats they are losses forever.
