["But if oil starts acting anything like gold, you might be better off holding cash -- or looking into natural gas weighted companies "]

...some of us did catch "THE TURN" in Oils; but Gold hasn't "acted" too badly...better than most realize actually - ie:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Last 100 days:

HUI/unhedged golds ....- 2%
S&P 500.................- 16%
DOW ....................- 17%
XNG/Nat Gas.............- 20%
Nasdq .................. -26%
OSX/oilpatch ........... -46%

siliconinvestor.com

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Last 52 weeks:

HUI/unhedged golds ... +72% --- "still" NOT TOO DAMN BAD (vbg)~
XNG/nat gas ........... -8%
DOW ...................- 13%
S&P....................- 20%
OSX ...................- 36%
Nasdq .................-44%

siliconinvestor.com

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Here's from approx Sept 11ish to date:

HUI +1 %

XNG - 2%
S&P - 5%
DOW - 5%
OSX - 7%
Nasdq- 8%

Gold still the only positive subsector fwiw....

...sometimes perceptions don't quite jive with reality.

BOTTOMLINE:

Gold has still outperformed the market on a 52 week, 100 day & 30 day basis...whodathunkit ?

i wonder why nothings happened in the straits, yet. or in the fields. as i read it, all of that infrastructure is vulnerable. saudi security must be stretched to the max trying to keep a lid on things.
