It wouldn't matter one way or another. Whether they are well- served by their unions or not, they are taken for granted and part of the fabric of life. I am sure the range of opinion is wide, but even if they were union men, it would not mean that they had researched the issue or given it much thought......

flapjacks assertion was a particularly hateful example of this tactic. Oh come on now, you are saying you love policemen and firemen but hate their organizations? What do you like their shiny badge and rubber boots? This is another version of the strawman argument where you invent these civil servants in an false image so you can praise some abstract. TP
