a handwritten envelope probably did not go through a mail sorter machine I think it does. Optical character recognition hardware /software reads the handwritten zip code, that little bar code is printed on the envelope and zip! If the ZIP code cannot be read, an image of address instantly appears, umm, I think at a facility in Alabama where a person reads it and types in the ZIP code numbers. Bar code printed, zip! All this in about one second. Squeeze a sealed envelope a few times. See how it puffs air out the corners? Traveling through the machine a series of rollers probably puffed the dust out over and over again. The following letters just kept it stirred up in the air all day. To make matters worse, the machines are cleaned with compressed air to blow out the paper dust. The people around those machines may have inhaled a heck of a dose for hours, even days. I think this heavy exposure might explain how they contracted the rare inhalation version of the illness from standard lab grade material. The perp may have even poked pin holes in the envelopes -- anything is possible. --k
