You're right! There will always be opinions and opinions and there will always be interpretations and interpretations! We can always ask an infinite number of what-ifs! The Japanese probably deserved their fate as they believed their emperor was a demi-god and they thought they were special and undefeatable. History has shown they were horribly cruel to the peoples of the countries they subdued in Asia. And, yes, they rewrote history when they omitted to mention the unspeakable atrocities perpetrated by them in Nanking, China, and elsewhere.
