What would I do if the 1st place finisher was away for the weekend and didn't get his/her pick in? That entrant would hold all the rest of the entrants back from making their picks. I try to encourage entrants to get their picks in early, the sooner the better for me. Hence the rule 1st one in gets 1st choice of available stocks. The "time slot" scenario would place restrictions on entrants and one thing I have found after running this contest last year is that the majority of people don't like rules. The less rules I put in place the easier it is to get people to adhere to them. As for real prizes I've tried that. Last year I wrote to SI to get them to throw in some prizes, no response from them whatsoever. Free t-shirts, free memberships that entrants could give away etc. etc. are great ideas but would need the co-operation of SI. Since this thread is only on Canadian stocks I think it gets shunned by SI Administration for prize giveaways. JMO Since the inception of the thread I've tried to add in some features, answering each entry with a chart and some mini-analysis of each chart, daily updates of all entries, portfolio of all the picks, posting news releases on the picks, etc. etc. In closing I would like to thank you for your ideas Val, I like to encourage all entrants to come up with ideas to make the thread a better site for all of us. Whatever the majority on this thread want to go with as far as new ideas I am more than willing to try. Personally I don't like the rule that the entry point is the closing ask price on a stock. I like the idea of the closing price for an entry point but the thread came up with this idea to stop entrants from picking stocks with unreasonable spreads. Their idea certainly makes sense so we go with it. So I am definitely open to change. Regards, Al
