With respect to your point about the spread of the contamination, remember that the contamination is also being diluted as it spreads.

We are learning new things as this event progresses because it has never happened like this before, so most of our public health officials are relying on things they have read in books. The books tell us that it takes several thousand spores to infect someone with inhalation anthrax.

If the books are right, then the more the same amount of dust is spread around, the lower the concentration, and thus it's less likely to cause harm.

I suspect that new chapters of the books are being written as we speak. -ng-

As for me, I have a nasty cold, but my understanding is that if your nose is dripping, it's not anthrax.
