Knowing what you know now, and with the wisdom of 20/20 rear view, what would you do now in the IT/Telecom zone, if given you had the capital, or could raise the capital, to do it?

Typically when things look the bleakest is the time to move. It's hard to do, to look beyond the current and see something where there is nothing but historically when it is like this, when psychology is at it's lowest is when the greatest opportunity exists.

Depends on who you are starting the operation for, yourself and a few guys or if you are trying to make a few hundred million.

If I were a bright guy, I would look into:

1) handling riser management for buildings, decent MRC
2) competing with the UIX database by developing a Lattis (pricing) tool type system that shows who is who in telecom in a given building, also who is interconnect with what carriers.
3) Negotating with specific buildings the exclusive rights (aside from Ameritech) the ability to terminate service into those buildings (don't know if that one is legal or not)

Those are the first ideas that come to mind.
