The Guardian seems to be going through a very anti-US phase here. To me they are making mountains out of mole hills if they can therby cast a disparaging shadow on the U.S..

They quote the Saudi Saudi interior minister, Prince Naif, as saying "the kingdom wanted the US to flush out the terrorists without bombing"... great! Show us how! Those guys spend too much time in places like the Ritz Hotel. Or do they really think we should send in ground troops to be shot up and mangled so as to preserve their tottering kingdom.

Believe me, a ground invasion of Afgahnistan without proper preparation (bombing) would produce a lot more civilian casualties along with a heap of dead U.S. bodies. ASk the Russians.

We are getting a lot of comments from people here and abroad who have no understanding of warfare. Yes, it would be nice if we could send over a couple of London Bobbies on bicycles to arrest Bin Laden by telling him to Halt in the name of the Queen. The other side is not playing around guys. This is not tiddly winks and Hoyle's Rules are not part of the plan.

I suspect the plan on there side is that Bin Laden would love nothing more than to boot out the House of Saud and take their place. If these Saudi's really would like us to put an end to Bin Laden, why are they fiddling around. Rebel forces are reported to be gathering in South Western Saudi Arabia. Trouble is at their door ... and they want us to chase trouble away. OK so far, but we could get a little confused if they keep taking shots at us without putting up an effort themselves.
