Jeez, they don't deserve that.

But I don't think they could - if ever there was over-farmed, overworked land, it's there...

I suppose if 'someone' stumped up enough $$ we could irrigate and fertilise great chunks of the Sahara and create a new homeland. Enough trees and it might even become self-fulfilling.
But I somehow can't see that as a likely solution, for cost or desirable real estate :(
