Nixon was a fairly decent president??!!!! I would suggest you read some history books.........he was a scumball. He had a major moral lapse and many would consider his lapse much worse than Clinton's.

I haven't noticed any history books referring to Nixon as a "scumball". I suppose we could argue about it all day, but clearly, Clinton's presidency (1) accomplished far less than did Nixon's, and (2) while I agree that Nixon had a major moral lapse when he lied, it was nowhere near the scope of Clinton's long-running series of moral lapses. I'm not attempting to determine who was more wrong, but if I had to rely on the words of one of the two it most certainly would have been Nixon over Clinton. Nixon was caught in a lie; Clinton's lies appear to be pathological. And worse, the Democrats defended (and continue to defend) it.

You must have made one hell of a liberal.

I WAS liberal - probably as bad as you.

Like many, I became more conservative as I paid more taxes, saw more people victimized by rampant crime, and saw social programs destroying the country.

The turning point was in the early 80s, when I realized how big the Social Security crisis was, and that like essentially all social programs, there was no means to recover from the destruction it will cause before it is over.

In history, Social Security will be remembered as the social program that brought down the United States. SS is what Davidson & Rees-Mogg refer to as an "Incentive Trap" -- the incentive is to allow the program to grow without bound. It is a perfect example of what is wrong with liberalism in general -- you can't fight human nature.
